Following the winter fundraising program of Shirak Center NGO that provided people in makeshifts with wood for heating their shelters, now the team is initiating another fundraising program that will give food and hygiene items to these people. Our project was supported by a number of charity organizations from other countries as well.
We sincerely thank all those individuals and organizations that gave their hand to help needy people in Gyumri by supporting our project. The target group of the current fundraising program is single mothers and elderly people that live in makeshifts and take care of children. Shirak Center’s survey and monitoring finds that people that live in makeshifts and temporary housing in Gyumri lack primitive and necessary conditions for life and hygiene. Most people in makeshifts are unemployed, with the only source of income generated from pensions or social benefits that do not pay even for electricity. Hundreds of families suffer of malnutrition. We encourage all donors to help and support our project is aimed at helping these people with food and hygiene items.
